Arbitrary scaling factors / voltage offset for analog channels

B
Brian

Many times I need to measure voltages or currents with my Logic analog channels that have to be scaled using hardware circuits so that the Logic can measure them. This means the vertical axis of the analog channels are incorrect and can't be directly used for measurements. If we had a user scale factor that could be applied separately to each channel, we could account for these scaling differences and then the graph values could be read out directly.

"Is it possible to change the units of the Analog channel?

I would like to scale the units of the analog channel and display 3.3V to a scale of 4096 units or in terms of percentage is it possible?"

My analog sensors are offset for the A/D converter (~1.5V really represents 0), so it would be nice to be able to set an offset or to have something like an AC coupled input switch on an o-scope. Or at least be able to add a horizontal marker.

Rescale analog values with gain and offset (e.g. voltage divider calc / voltage to current)
Basic math operations with two channels that can be observed in a new channel (e.g. math 1)

I made a suggestion earlier today on this subject, and fear that it was sent anonymously.

Hi Bill, I actually merged your idea post in with this existing one below since it was similar:

Let me know if you think otherwise!

Looks good Tim. Please ping me when you guys add this feature, I could really use it. Thank you and Best Regards,

Bill

The analog inputs are limited to +/-10V. The analog input voltage range can be extended with a pair of external voltage divider resistors. The problem to fix is translating the divider ratio to Logic 2, so that the GUI signals can be correctly scaled.

Please add a new Custom Scale input setting where the divider ratio can be entered. Then allow the GUI scaling to permit higher voltages.

You could also make this Custom Scaling input, a GUI-based voltage divider circuit designer. Just input the min/max voltage, the permitted divder current, impedance, and the Logic 2 displays the resistor values needed.

Why do I need this? So that I can safely display HVBUS with USB PD. It can be as high as 22 V.

Best Regards,

Bill

Arbitrary scaling and arbitrary Y-scale units would also be very high on my wishing list. Right now, if you physically scale the input to Logic2 (and you must if the signals are out of Logic’s range or when they represent something other than volts - say pressure or current) the analog signal visualisation is hardly usable in a professional environment because of lack of this. More or less all that’s needed to support team discussions about mixed signal embedded development issues is provided by Logic2 except this particular feature. And really, it should be a breeze to implement this: float offset, float scale and 3 characters as unit string per channel.

Hi,
Gain and offset for analog measurement is like must have !!!!
I have current probe that exposes voltage in linear function of measured current. I have to calculate every sample to get real current. In comparision when gain and offset is applied you can just point measure with your mice and have answear right away.

Second thing... analog measurement would not always be linear. Mybe some python function that will transform???

But first of all GAIN and OFFSET. (I would also recommend to update title of this proposal)

PS. Currently my probe exposes 3 voltages with different gain and I'm not even able to configure AnalogMeasurement extention to tell it what gain I'm using currently.

I have the same need, it would be very nice

It would be great if different units could be assigned to channels: for e.g. when measuring with a current transformer it would be nice to display A in the measurements and at the vertical the axes.
